Masks and mannequins

The WizardEvery year since time immemorial, the Oatleys have pulled out the stops to decorate their house for Halloween.

This year was no exception, as we turned a portion of the banana patch into a haunted grotto. Mannequins, masks, pumpkins and flashlights were all pressed into service to create what I think was the spookiest setting yet. As usual, yours truly donned a mask and cloak to become one of the “live exhibits”, with a mission to make at least one child cry.

This year was the first time Aidan had a proper costume to wear, too: a devil outfit. Alas, because I spent all my time running around the banana patch trying to scare the other kids, I didn’t get to see him in it before he went to bed.

Pictures of the some of the exhibits are available here.

How to piss me off

Should you ever want to really irritate me, there is one question that you can ask that I guarantee will do the trick every time:

“So, when are you going to get going on number two then?”

Or, worse,

“Wow, Aidan’s almost fourteen months old already, eh? Isn’t it about time you were getting to work on number two?”

Don’t be so damn presumptuous. If you really must know our thoughts on this, the correct question to ask is:

“So, any plans to have a second?”

Thank you.

      PC: Mass Effect
Heavily story-driven sci-fi RPG. So far I think I've spent more time selecting dialog options in conversations and reading log entries than I have running around shooting things. It makes for a relatively slow paced game, but one that's much more compelling.

      The Dark Knight
A fantastic movie, with outstanding acting by Heath Ledger as the Joker, although it probably goes on for a little too long. It's a dark movie though and definitely not suitable for young kids.

One of the reasons I love the movie Black Hawk Down is the music. I only learned today that this guy was one of the contributors. It's an energetic fusion of Middle Eastern and Western rhythmns. I bought it on the strength of Barra Barra (the track from Black Hawk Down) alone, but I think I'm going to love the rest of it too.
